Bedroom Tour 2016

Bedroom Tour 2016

Hey, friends! I've had so much fun decorating for the holidays this year. I gave myself permission to take it slow rather than try to rush and do it all in one weekend. I've spent the past month moving decor around and adding things here and there as inspiration strikes. (Have I told you how much I LOVE decorating? ?)

If I was a perfect home decor blogger, I would have finished decorating over a month ago and shared it with you waaaay before Christmas. Instead, I'm finally finished and sharing it with you the week of Christmas. Sorry for holding out on you until today, but I was having fun and enjoying the process. It's so nice to slow down sometimes.

I finally finished things up and packed away the boxes of extra decor last week, so I decided to take some photos over the weekend while the living room was all tidied up. I've already shared the Christmas tree and picture ledge with you, but today you finally get to see the entire room!

Enjoy today's tour of my Christmas living room!

When you walk in our front door, you come straight into the living room and see our couch first. I love having this picture ledge above the couch because it makes it easy to create an eye-catching gallery wall for every season. I shared details about this Christmas picture ledge here.

I also picked up a couple gray sweater pillow covers at Hobby Lobby to add some winter coziness to the couch.

I hung a wreath above this end table and created a wintry vignette on the table. I added a vase of pinecones and placed a couple copper cookie cutters (thrift store finds) in a small bowl.

Here's a look at the wall to the right of our front door. We don't really have an entryway, so this is our drop zone.  We've lived in this house for two years now, and I've still been trying to come up with something to fill the wall above this bench.

I took a stab at creating a Christmas gallery wall. Here's what I came up with: Wreath + stockings + cheap cookie plate + framed wrapping paper & fabric = a cute Christmas gallery wall. See how I used a wreath to frame the thermostat?

Aren't these gold deer so sweet? They're tea light holders! I bought them last year and had forgotten all about them until I unpacked my decor. I gave them a prime spot next to a container filled with greenery, pine cones and ornaments.

Now let's turn around and look at the other side of the room. I found a huge amount of that red checked fleece fabric at a thrift store (score!) and cut it into a few "blankets." There's one on the rocking chair and another on the back of the entry bench. Not a true blanket, but I think it still looks super cute! I also used pieces of that fabric in picture frames and for some DIY ornaments.

I switched up this little wall by bringing in the gray bench that I DIYed for our bedroom earlier this year. The neutral gray with gold dipped legs feels wintry to me, especially with a couple textured pillows and lantern on top.

Now, if only I'd get around to painting that pine closet door black like I did in the bathroom. Won't that look awesome when it's finally painted?

Our Christmas tree is over in the corner of the living room. I shared all about how I transformed this old, worn out tree here.

If you missed these fabric-covered ornaments that I shared a few weeks ago, they were super easy (and thrifty!) to make!

Aren't these plaid and checked ornaments super cute?! What a grey idea for DIY Christmas ornaments! I love how easy and thrifty these are to make. Adding this to my craft list for sure!

The top of my cedar chest is always fun to decorate. I used the paper boxwood wreath I made last year, along with some ornaments and concrete candlesticks.

I just love little jingle bells! I displayed some in a small bowl in this tray.

Here's a closer look at the picture ledge above the couch.

This Christmas picture ledge looks amazing! I love this above the couch as an alternative to a gallery wall. So easy to swap out the frames and art with the seasons. The holiday art looks pretty and the fabric garland is fun, too.

Since we have a big black leather couch, I try to soften it and add some color/pattern through lots of throw pillows and a blanket draped across the back.

And that wraps up this year's Christmas living room tour. Thanks for stopping by! I hope your family has a blessed Christmas this weekend.

Merry Christmas,
